T
he Versace Spring 2012 Menswear collection could be said to be a homage to the house's roots: Italia. Donatella paid a tribute to the legacy of the house and its influences; the collection was dominated by gladiator motifs, Gianni's signature spiraling Baroque curlicues, and the house's trademark Greek key insignia. It featured a spectrum of vivid, vibrant colors: slate grey, vermillion, hot pink, verdant green, cream, cerulean, cobalt, and icterine yellow.
Sleek, classic, and sharp suits, double-breasted jackets, and a checked suit demonstrated the house's mastery of the male form, accentuating its athleticism through the body-conscious, low-closing fit.
Vivacious, vibrant hues of vermillion, hot pink, cobalt, cerulean, and icterine yellow established the richness and brilliance of nature.
Roman, gladiator motifs dominated the collection, establishing a return to the foundations upon which the house has had built its legacy. Buckles ran down the sides of trousers and were used as detailing on jacket closings.
Gianni's signature Baroque prints resurfaced as a thematic motif of the collection, welcoming back the exquisite lushness of nature and foliage, and paying tribute to his legacy. Low-cut, Greek-key trimmed cardigans, jackets, and robes were thematic pieces of the show for their luxuriousness.
The studded gladiator sandals were used as motifs in the tribute to the legacy, history, and accomplishments of the house of Versace. See all accessories here.
